Outdoor Sports & Activities

Carnoch Farm is set in an area best described as a paradise for the outdoor enthusiast. While many visitors are happy to take in the scenery from the comfort of their car, many others come here for what our great outdoors have to offer.

Walking & Climbing

The Strathglass area is a must for walkers and climbers. For those who wish to scale the heights there are many high routes in Glen Affric, Glen Cannich and Glen Strathfarrar. As well as lesser tops, there is also an abundance of low level walks along rivers, lochs and forest trails for those seeking easier routes. There are a number of waymarked routes and you will also find books, leaflets and maps available locally giving details of walks in the area.

Please come prepared in terms of footwear and outdoor clothing - our weather can be very changeable.

Our boundaries stretch along approximately two miles of the River Glass, where wild brown trout and pike fishing is available free of charge for our guests. Salmon fishing can be arranged locally and further afield - Graham can also arrange for expert tuition or the services of a ghillie if required.

There a literally hundreds of miles of forestry roads for mountain biking and cycling. Mountain bikes can be hired locally by the half day, day and the week. We have amplestorage space if guests prefer to bring there own. There is a custom built MTB trail in nearby Glenurquhart.

Pony Trekking

Pony trekking at Cougie is a wonderful experience for riders of all abilities. Trek through parts of the Highlands not usually visited, combining stunning scenery and total isolation. Treks vary from one hour to overnight trips.

Other Activities

There is a scenic 9 hole golf course at Aigas on the road between Carnoch Farm and Beauly. During the summer months you might also like to watch a game of Shinty. Local team Strathglass play their home matches at Cannich and there are matches most weekends during the season. Don't forget to pack your camera and binoculars to capture the scenery and view the wildlife.
